Omar’s Message:
When I think about EOP, I think back about attending Summer Bridge in 2015.
EOP has provided me with an opportunity I never thought would be possible.
They have been supporting me since the day my journey began in the summer of 2015.
EOP has provided me support in countless ways; summer bridge, sophomore bridge,
faculty mentoring, educational workshops, educational advising, volunteer opportunities
and many more. Without the guidance I have been provided I would have never learned
of all the resources that are available to me as a student. Having the opportunity
to meet with an EOP advisor or counselor whenever I need help is a very rewarding
feeling because I know if I need help I can go to them.
Some advice I would provide for students is to schedule meetings with counselors and
make sure they are on the right path for graduation. Their meetings do not necessarily
have to be about academics, they can be about any concerns or questions they may have.
Other great advice would be to volunteer as much as they can. Volunteering will strengthen
communication and interpersonal skills including networking. Eventually, that can lead
students towards an internship or employment opportunity.
