When I think about EOP, I just think of all the people who have made me feel welcomed and made me feel like I belong at Fresno state. EOP has provided me and many other students the ability to connect with other students with similar upbringings. To get straight to the point, EOP has made a home away from home and has helped build a support group of people who want us to reach our full potential.
One achievement that I am proud of is becoming a peer mentor for EOP. By becoming a peer mentor I was given the opportunity to help others the way that I was helped. I am able to help guide students based on my experiences and to be able to make an impact on students makes me proud.
Like mentioned earlier, EOP has provided wonderful mentors that have guided and supported me for the last three years. Not only I am I given mentors but I am also given responsibilities and certain standards that I must reach, and that only helps me become the best version of myself. It has also giving me the platform to network with other students and staff in Fresno state.
My words of wisdom for incoming students is to not be afraid and to not feel alone. There are people all around you that want you to have a fun and great experience in college, but most importantly, want you to reach your full potential as a student and as an individual. The only thing that they ask in return is that you put in an effort.
