I remember my freshman year and being so lost in what to expect from college. Being a first-generation college student and not knowing who to ask advice for is a scary feeling. Luckily meeting my advisor, she always reassured me and gave me the available tools that campus and EOP offers. My brothers also had the same advisor which instantly made me feel comfortable because she knew my family and my story. EOP has made me feel that I belong and always gives the support that we need.
An accomplishment that I am proud of is starting the process to apply to graduate schools. Never would I have thought that this was going to happen. If it weren’t for the help of my advisor and how she helped in mapping out my schedule and giving me advice to be a strong candidate, I believe I would have lost myself and not done the things that I’ve done. With her encouragement, I became a tutor in an underserved school and volunteered at hospitals.
EOP has given me so much support all throughout my undergraduate studies and I am grateful that I am a part of this community.
EOP is the best community to be a part of; they give you all the resources they can give, while at the same time making you a better leader and student.
