Jasmine’s Message:
If I could describe in one word what EOP means to me, I would describe it as home. EOP has been a place where I have grown as an individual. I was afraid of the idea of college especially as a first generation college student. I struggled a lot, as I had to learn to become independent at a young age. Because of this, I always had a hard time trusting others. Everything changed the minute I received an email of acceptance from the program. I felt like I truly belonged somewhere, as it was my place of refuge.
EOP welcomed me with open arms and I will forever be grateful. They saw potential in me as I had the opportunity to become an EOP mentor for the EOP Summer Bridge program and am now a proud student assistant for EOP. I was able to grow as a leader and give back to the program. Before attending CSUCI I had very little knowledge of what college really was. EOP was there to guide me to the right direction. Words cannot describe the passion that EOP has for their students. I am proud of my EOP identity and so are many other CSUCI students. I can truly say that EOP is my home away from home.
